Al-Jisr

The study of the different realities of tension and dialogue in Europe's plural society.

Al-Jisr-es is a transformative and analytical project that has emerged from the reflection of young researchers on the opportunities and tensions existing in our pluralistic society. We live in an interconnected and globalised world. On our streets people of different cultures, ethnic groups, religions and ideas live side by side. Yet, this does not mean that there is a real dialogue, but rather that it is a context where encounters and tensions coexist, both on a global level and on a daily basis.

As researchers, this is the situation we want to better understand. To this end, we carry out sociological analyses of the different realities of conflict and dialogue that emerge between different cultures, ethnic groups and notably religions, in the European context. We believe that knowledge provides the means to reach consensus and common solutions to a situation that affect us all, because living in a plural society implies knowing and learning how to coexist.

From Al-Jisr we want to put this knowledge at the service of society. For this reason we also promote spaces for dialogue between the different cultures and religions that coexist in European society through the organisation of workshops, seminars, conferences and meetings through which, from our differences, we can reach common goals, in short, we can build bridges.

Al-Jisr was created, out of these concerns, in 2021 through the funding granted by the KAICIID International Fellowship Programme with the aim of conducting our first project with migrant youth and children. As a result of KAICIID's support, this website has also been launched, with the hope of being a point of contact between Al-Jisr and civil society.
